FAQs

A list of the most commonly asked questions. Updated regularly – and as and when I deem a question to be frequently asked! If yours isn’t answered here, feel free to ask me at info@katiejreeves.com or through my contact page – I’d love to hear from you.

In simple terms, content writers and copywriters research, plan, write, check and edit the textual content for businesses or individuals to promote their services. This can be anything from product descriptions, to blog posts, to website copy, to in-print books.

Within both my briefing documents and my quotation I will set out a timescale which I will agree with you. Some projects can be turned around very quickly, and others will take a little more tweaking. I will be in constant contact with you to update you on the progress of yours.

My availability varies from month to month and of course depending on the size of the commission. Please get in touch with your requirements and I’ll let you know what I can do for you.

As you probably expected, there is no simple answer to this question. When costing a job, I will take into account all aspects from the research right up to the final product. I offer fast turnaround editing and advice all the way up to long term collaborations; so costs will inevitably vary.

I know what it’s like when you’re just starting out and money can be tight. Of course, you have to invest to some degree to start making returns. If you are looking for a cheaper option, I can talk to you about copy-critiquing. This will involve you producing initial draft content and sending it to me for advice, editing and proofreading. Taking this option will save you the costs of the research, planning and writing stages if you are prepared to take them into your own hands.

Projects above the value of £500.00 require pre-payment in full. Projects up to the value of £500.00 require a 50% non-refundable deposit upon commission. The balance of payment is then required within 14 days of submission of my final draft.

The cost we mutually agree at the start of the project will include any revisions. Of course, if the scope changes drastically, it will be necessary to re-calculate costs and timescale. Terminations of projects that are already in progress will incur a cancellation fee.

It’s quality over quantity. The simple reason is that I believe the value of my copy to be in the copy itself – not in the time spent on it or the number of words on the page. Sure, you will be able to find writers who charge a flat hourly or by the word rate, but the length and/or time spent often does not reflect the quality of the piece.

Charging this way also works out better for you, the client: you pay a flat fee for the work based on our agreed-upon brief. Unless there are any major changes required, this fee will not change, no matter the word count or hours spent.

To make the whole process at straightforward as possible for my clients, I have a produced detailed briefing document. This covers all the major bases and allows me to get the information I need from you to get quoting and get started. The lines of communication will be left open for the duration to allow for any necessary discussion between us.

In my experience, one or two revisions usually cover all the changes that are necessary, but it will depend on the project. Revisions will be up to a set limit and timescale, which I will define in my quotation.

Of course you can. I will give my professional opinion in every instance, but the final say is always up to you.

I pride myself on being a “tone of voice” writer. What that essentially means is that although I may have a default writing style, as a professional writer I am able to adapt to the desired tone of the piece. Each project is individual: from the very formal to the conversational and fun.

Absolutely – I offer a variety of different services to suit each clients’ individual requirements. I can oversee the whole process from the research stages to the final edit, or anything in between. Feel free to get in touch to discuss your specific needs.

Yes. My completed work once paid for in full by the client is theirs.

Thanks to the digital age, everything can be handled without having to meet face to face. Rarely, I will have scheduled meetings with long term repeat clients if they so wish.

No. Another great boon of the digital age is that I can produce content for you whatever your location.
