The Caffeine-Free Tea You Aren’t Drinking Enough Of

You have probably heard green tea being touted as anything from a weight loss aid to a preventor of Alzheimer’s and just about anything in between. You may have even been sold on matcha green’s superpowers. However, there is one tea out there that is not being spoken about nearly enough – Roobios. Rooibos (or Redbush) tea may not be trending right now, but it certainly packs a powerful punch when it comes to your health for a whole host of reasons…

1. It won’t keep you up at night

Unlike your black, white and green tea varieties, redbush is completely caffeine free and has low amounts of tannins. This means no nights spent wide awake because you broke the 4 pm no caffeine rule – silly you. No, but seriously, it makes it a whole lot more versatile than a lot of teas and you can happily drink it at any time of the day. It is also handy for people who, for a variety of health reasons, find that caffeine or tannins irritate their systems.

2. It actually tastes good

Ok sure, so this one is personal preference. But redbush is known to have a much lighter and more palatable taste for those of you that find green and black tea somewhat bitter. It can be drunk with or without milk and sweetener, according to your own taste.

Now on to the really good stuff:

3. It can help you looking and feeling young

This stuff is also known to have anti-ageing properties and promotes healthy skin and hair. The antioxidant Superoxide Dismutase within the drink is a proven wrinkle reducer, and it also boosts the production of healthy skin cells. This coupled with the various vitamins and minerals found in redbush (such as zinc and vitamin D) mean that it really is a skin saviour.

4. It can help with weight loss

The active ingredient Apalachin reduces stress hormones that trigger hunger and overeating. One study showed that some versions of redbush help to prevent spikes in blood sugar levels. The tea itself is very low calorie, especially if consumed *sans* milk or sugar.

5. It aids in the prevention of various illnesses

The amber nectar from South Africa is known to provide benefit to those suffering from the following illnesses *deep breath*: allergies, osteoporosis, digestive issues, heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, colic in babies and more!

So, fancy a brew?
